I am a school psychologist serving students, families, and educators up and down the South Coast. I have known Jessica Engelke for over 30 years. When I found out she was running for Mayor of North Bend, I was excited for the youth and families of my hometown.
Jessica is an excellent example for young people who want to get involved in their community. She is responsible for healthy, family activities which encourage outdoor activity such as the Charleston Salmon Run, and the Bear Claw 5K Run at our local college. The latter event has raised thousands of dollars for pancreatic cancer research. Her actions define community service. In addition to raising her two daughters in North Bend with her husband, Steve, she is a business management instructor at SWOCC, an active member of her faculty union, and serves on the boards of Bay Area Enterprises and CCD. She has served as President of the Chamber of Commerce, wants good things to happen for our community, and is not afraid to do the hard work to get there.
As a '91 graduate of North Bend High School, she appreciates the culture and traditions that have made North Bend what it is today, and has the ability to navigate the many challenges and opportunities of the future. She understands the privilege of giving back to the community that has given her so much. She is a listener, a learner, a leader.
